Heute morgen kurz nach Mitternacht kamen die Newsletter von John Edwards und Rudy Giuliani mit der Ich-mach-nicht-mehr-mit-Botschaft an die “Fans”. Am 4.1. kam schon die von Joe Biden, Fred Thompson hat mir keine geschickt. Dennis Kucinich hatte ich beim Abonnieren der ganzen Newsletter überhaupt nicht auf dem Schirm. Anyway. Betreff bei allen dreien: “Thank You”

Rudy stellt sich klar auf die Seite von John McCain, der ihn ja auch gestern mehr oder weniger deutlich dazu eingeladen hatte, ihn zu unterstützen.

Although we were unsuccessful in our endeavor, the fight to strengthen America goes on. Our nation’s next President must understand and make a commitment to keep us on offense in the Terrorists’ War on Us. He must understand that stimulating our economy requires cutting taxes, because you make better decisions with your money than Washington bureaucrats. I believe John McCain is that man. He is the right leader to move us forward, unite our party and transform Washington. I hope that you will join me in supporting him to be the next President of the United States.

Edwards ist der einzige der drei, der seine Rede zum Rückzug in die Mail packt und auch noch das Video verlinkt. Auch in dieser rede scheint ihm die Einigung des Landes und die Überwindung der Spaltung der letzten Jahre zumindest rhethorisch wichtig.
